The Gospel
1. The Beginning
When you look around, isn’t everything a little too perfect to have come into existence by chance? That’s because it is! God is the creator of everything in heaven and on earth. The beautiful sunsets, the grand ocean, the limitless sky, and everything in between was all created by God. He even created humans in His image, so they could be in relationship with Him. Think of a mirror, which reflects the sun’s light when properly angled. In the same way, humans were created to reflect God’s glory to all of His beautiful creation. The first two humans, Adam and Eve, lived in perfect harmony with Him in a world without pain, death, or destruction.
2. The Fall
But things didn’t stay perfect for long. God had given Adam and Eve everything they needed and invited them to trust Him fully. Yet, instead of listening to His voice, they chose to listen to the serpent, who tempted them to doubt God’s goodness. The serpent told them they could be like God if they disobeyed Him. Adam and Eve gave in, eating from the one tree God told them not to touch. At that moment, sin entered the world. The harmony they once had with God was broken, and the world was no longer free from pain, death, or destruction. Because of this costly error, all humans are born into sin and are naturally on God’s bad side.
3. The Promise
Even though Adam and Eve broke their perfect relationship with God, He didn’t give up on them, or on us. Right there and then, God gave a promise: one day, a descendant of the woman would crush the serpent’s head, even though the serpent would wound Him in the process. In simple terms, this meant that a Savior would come to defeat evil completely, even if it cost Him greatly to do so. From that point forward, the rest of the Bible builds on this hope. Through prophets, leaders, and kings, God kept reminding His people that a Savior would come; someone who would restore what was lost and bring humanity back to Him.
4. The Cross
The promise God gave Adam and Eve about a Savior was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. He lived the perfect life that no one else could, but instead of being celebrated, He was arrested, beaten, and nailed to a cross. There, He took on the punishment for all sin and brokenness, carrying the weight of humanity’s rebellion against God.
At first, it seemed like evil had won. But three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, proving His victory over sin and death. By rising again, He undid the curse that began with Adam and Eve and opened the way for us to be forgiven and restored to God. All we have to do to accept this gracious offer is to put our trust in Jesus and believe that he died for our sins. What a gift!
5. The Church
After Jesus rose from the dead, He gave His followers a mission: to share the good news of His victory and to live as a reflection of His love in the world. This group of followers became what we now call the Church; not just a building, but a community of people who belong to Jesus.
The Church isn’t perfect, because it’s made up of imperfect people. Yet God uses it to show the world who He is. Followers of Jesus are called to care for the hurting, stand for what is right, and invite others into the same restored relationship with God that they have found in Christ. In this way, the Church carries forward the mission Jesus began, pointing people to the life and hope found in Him.
6. The New Creation
The story doesn’t end here. One day, Jesus will return and make all things new. Sin, suffering, and death will be gone forever. The brokenness that began with Adam and Eve will be completely undone, and God’s creation will be restored to the beauty and wholeness He intended from the beginning. For those who belong to Christ, this means eternal life with Him: a life of joy, peace, and perfect harmony with God. No more tears, no more pain, no more separation. But for those who reject Him, the result is eternal separation from God, cut off from the source of life and love. Everything wrong will be made right, and God will dwell with His people forever.

1. Begin with Jesus
If you feel drawn, the first step is simply to open yourself to Jesus. He is steady and unchanging through every season of life. He is a Rock you can build on. He gave His life for you and now invites you to give yours to him. If you’re not ready yet, that’s okay. Keep exploring the next steps so you can better understand the Gospel message. If you are ready, it’s about believing this in your heart: that we are all broken and in need of forgiveness, but Jesus lived the perfect life we couldn’t and died in our place so that we could be brought back into relationship with God. 2. Explore the faith
Whether you’ve decided to follow Jesus or are still exploring, it helps to grow in your understanding of the Gospel. The message at its heart is simple and beautiful, but there’s also so much depth to discover. There are countless resources (books, articles, podcasts, sermons, and more) that can help you learn and ask deeper questions. I’m putting together a list to guide you through both the basics and more advanced topics.
Remember, knowledge is important, but it always points back to the same core truth: God’s love shown to us through Jesus. As you keep learning, let that truth stay at the center.
3. Live it out
Because of what Jesus has done for us, we can never repay him. But that doesn’t mean our lives should stay the same. In fact, it’s the opposite. When we believe in him, we’re called to live differently: leaving our old ways, following God’s commands, and looking to Jesus as our example.
The beautiful truth is that we live from victory, not for victory. Jesus has already won the battle over sin and death. We’re just waiting for the day he returns to make all things new. Until then, we can pursue godly lives with confidence, knowing God’s grace holds us secure. He promises to keep us to the very end, when we’ll be with Him forever.
4. Find community
Faith was never meant to be lived out alone. God designed us to grow together, encourage one another, and walk side by side through both struggles and celebrations. That’s why being part of a church family is such an essential step.

The right church will point you back to Jesus (his birth, life, death, and resurrection) in everything they teach and practice. A healthy church community will help you keep growing, give you support in hard times, and rejoice with you in the good ones.
